Gender balance in STEM
Addressing the imbalance of STEM graduates is a top priority for our School and is an area of personal interest. Within the School, I carry out a range of activities around first year inductions for new females, an annual female meet-up, transition year student events - and hosting of Code-First-Girls events.
If you are interested in this area, I gave a talk on "How to address STEM gender balance" at the Third Level Computing Form - which contained some interesting insights into which computer science programmes are attracting more females.
